Please note that items which have the letters
REF before
the classification number are located in the reference area.
Biographies are classified with the letters BIO and the full last name of
the person about whom the book is written and are located after the 900s in the
nonfiction stacks, i.e., Babe Ruth's biography will have the designation BIO
RUTH on the spine. Nonfiction materials are organized using the Dewey
decimal system outlined below. Fiction titles are filed with the designation
FIC and the first
three letters of the author's last name;
similarly, short story collections have the designation SC and are
located in the stacks after the Fiction collection. Paperbacks have the PB
designation and are found on the mobile display unit next to the fiction
collection. Very large books
have the designation OVER for oversize and are shelved after the
biographies at the end of the Nonfiction stacks. See the library staff for
assistance in locating materials on the shelf.
