Oyster River High School
Internet and Technology Use in the Library
The policy for acceptable use of technology at Oyster River High
School states that those using any technology, including the Internet
workstations here in the library, will work in a "responsible,
ethical, and legal manner and will show respect and consideration for
all." Please follow these guidelines when working on the Internet or
any of the electronic databases:
- If others are waiting to use the workstation, limit your work
to ten (10) minutes; if your use of the workstation is not
school-related, please be particularly aware that others may need
to use the machine for a school project and they have priority.
- Follow school guidelines for acceptable behavior. There are
materials on the Internet which are disrespectful of others or
otherwise inappropriate for our school setting; please use good
judgment and consideration for others in the language and content
you are using on the Internet.
- Can't find what you need on the World Wide Web? Having problems with a
workstation or printer? If so, ask for help. Ms. Kentner and Ms. Grant can
help you find the resources you need, whether they are on the Internet or
here in our own library.
- If you would like to have a copy of what you find on the
Internet, there are blank disks available for downloading
documents or information. Please be responsible about the amount of printing
you do. Ask Ms. Kentner or Miss Smith for
assistance. Remember, you will need to give credit for this
information if you use it in your own work; ask for information on
properly citing material from the Internet in a footnote or
