REPORT CARDS

Report cards are distributed four times a year so that students and parents may have periodic information regarding school progress.  Progress reports may be issued whenever the teacher finds the student’s work unsatisfactory.  Warning notices are generally mailed in the middle of each grading period.  While every effort is made to provide a warning, under certain conditions the student may receive a failure for the grading period without having received a formal warning.

Please check Ed-line for your student’s grades.  Please contact the school  (preferably via e-mail to the teacher whose grade is not posted) if all grades are not displayed.  If there are issues with accessing Ed-Line itself, please e-mail Ms. Wotton at swotton@orcsd.org .

The report card follows a letter system.  A percentage range is provided as a guide for parents, students, and teachers.  Grade points are used for determining rank in class.

The grade is a measure of the educational growth of a student in a particular subject.  In determining the grade, the teacher considers a number of factors including attendance, contributions to class discussion, homework, and the results of oral and written tests.

CLASS RANK

Students are ranked according to their cumulative grade point averages at the conclusion of the fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth semesters.  Classes are not tracked and students are encouraged to select appropriately challenging courses.  All courses weigh equally; no weighted GPA or rank is calculated.  Both attempts at courses repeated during the academic year are included in ranking.
