Dear Parents and Guardians,

 

Keeping you informed is a top priority at Oyster River Cooperative School District.  That’s why we have adopted the AlertNOW Notification Service which will allow us to send a telephone or email message to you providing important information about school events or emergencies. Initially, we anticipate using AlertNOW to notify you of emergency situations, school delays and cancellations due to inclement weather. The system can also be used for more informational communication, such as reminders about various events, report card distribution, open house, field trips, and more, which we may take advantage of as we get more familiar with the system and get our data updated.  In the event of an emergency at school, you can have peace of mind knowing that you will be informed immediately by phone.

Here is some general information about AlertNOW to help you understand it better:

·            Caller ID will display the district’s main number (603-868-5100) when a district general announcement is delivered. These messages are ONLY delivered to the primary phone number and/or email address. This is used for events like a delayed school opening, cancellation of school, or informational announcement. Delay and cancellation notifications will occur between 6:00 and 6:30am. Each unique phone number will only receive one call per incident, so parents with multiple children in the district will not receive multiple calls.

·            Caller ID will display 411-000-0000 if the message is an emergency. These messages will be delivered to all numbers listed. This includes events like an unexpected early release or crisis situation at the school.

·            Caller ID will display the sending school’s phone number for a general announcement sent from a specific school.

·            AlertNOW will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.

·            If the AlertNOW message stops playing, press any key 1-9 and the message will replay from the beginning. AlertNOW will attempt to deliver to extensions, but may not always succeed based on type of phone system it encounters.

With this letter we are hoping to inform you and gather your information for our records as well as understand how you would like your information handled with the AlertNOW system. If you could please fill out the information on the attached form and return it with your registration packet, we would appreciate it.

Use for AlertNOW Primary: The primary number and email is for general announcements. This is the only number that will be contacted in most cases where we use this service. The intent is to have up to one primary phone and email contact per household for each student, allowing for two primaries of each for a student whose parents live separately. Please choose zero, one, or two primary phone and email contacts.

 

Use for AlertNOW Emergency: Any contact checked here will only be contacted using the 411 emergency alert. You can choose as many of these as you wish. Any primary contact will also be used for an emergency.
